Hello you beauties! I’m back from my short time away & hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas! I thought that my last post of 2013 should be about someone you all should know about. Before I tell you who this person is, I just want to give you some background information on what they do.
Fashion Illustration. The communication of fashion using the mediums of illustration, drawing and painting. It is usually commissioned for reproduction in fashion magazines as one part of an editorial feature or for the purpose of advertising and promoting fashion makers, fashion boutiques and department stores. Fashion Illustrators were usually commissioned to create an editorial feature for fashion magazines (for example Vogue).
Having existed for almost 500 years, fashion illustrations have served as both a translation for designers & is also a form of art. Since the late 1930’s the popularity of fashion illustrations declined & photographic images replaced them on the cover of Vogue magazine.
So by now you can probably guess that this post is about a Fashion Illustrator. Well, I hope you did… Some of you may know this person’s work, some of you may not. I would like to introduce you to Hayden Williams!
British Fashion Illustrator & Designer Hayden set up his blogs back in 2010 (check them out by clicking here & here). Using social media to his advantage, Hayden has built a following by frequently sharing his latest works of art. He has drawn singers such as Beyoncé & Rihanna, models such as Naomi Campbell & Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley, celebrities such as Victoria Beckham & Oprah & even created his own characters! The 22 year old plans to conquers the world “one fashion sketch at a time”. It’s about time I showed you some of his pieces, so I have attached a picture below of Hayden’s latest collection ‘Disney Divas for Vogue’.
The attention to detail in his illustrations is absolutely magnificent! Everything from the shading to the illustrations’ shape has been meticulously thought of.
There are various pieces that Williams has produced that out of all of his work, are my favourites & some of these can be seen below. And while I’m on the topic of my favourite Hayden Williams, I would just like to say, Hayden, if you’re reading this thank you for liking my Instagram collage of your work (you can also find this collage below)!
