McQueen’s Mysterious Moss

In a dank, dark & dim lit street stands a mesmerised Kate Moss. Her focus fixed on the television screens stacked behind the window.

We progress through the campaign video by following Kate into an eerie, Tim Burton-esque house. As she passes the doorway, a replica doll of the model is then seen. Scaling an old wooden staircase, the McQueen clad Kate then leads us into a bedroom where she then begins undressing.

Ending with a series of bird’s eye angle shots of Moss’ faces, the short film directed by Steven Klein (a long-time collaborator of the McQueen brand) was inspired by the 1960’s British cult thriller film ‘Peeping Tom’.

A good friend of Alexander McQueen’s late eponymous founder, Kate has previously worked with the brand by appearing as a ghostly hologram for their Autumn/Winter 2006 show. Despite this, 2014 marks Moss’ debut as the new face of Alexander McQueen.

 The leather, the colour scheme & the style all hint at the gladiator theme that was also conveyed in the Spring/Summer 14 runway show in Paris.
We can also see many characters portrayed through Moss’ faces. My favourite of which is the second picture on the top left hand side. Kate’s expression is that of an enchantress watching your every move.
