The 1st June. The start of Pride month. The beginning of a month long celebration of the LGBT+ community. To be completely honest, I was weighing up whether to write this post. Would people care? Would people want to read another post on Pride? Stuff it, I want to contribute to the discussion. I want to be active in talking about a topic that is near and dear to me.
The rights of the LGBT+ community have come a long way in recent years, particularly compared to twenty years ago, for example. With this said, there is also still a very long way to go. If it wasn’t for those that dedicated and gave their lives to fighting for the rights of LGBT+ community, then life for us could have been very different. Thank you to Stonewall. Thank you to Marsha P. Johnson. Thank you to the countless people who have fought for people like me to live the life that I do. Thank you to you for reading this post.
I like to think that I’m vocal about my support of the community that I’m so proud to be part but realised why, with a voice and a corner of the internet why I don’t post about it more. With this said, I’ve decided that I’m going to celebrate Pride here, on the blog, as well as my in person annual celebrations. Keep an eye out and let me know if there’s anything in particular that you’d like to see relating to Pride.
