I wanted to get the ball rolling with Getting Curious with JVN by the incredible human that is Jonathan van Ness. One fifth of Queer Eye’s Fab Five, Jonathan not only lifts spirits with his love and positivity over on Netflix but has also been pondering some of today’s big questions for a while over on his podcast. With guests including another wonderful human and one fifth of the Fab Five, Tan France, and the amazing Reese Witherspoon it is a fun and insightful listen that unpacks great topics.

My Dad Wrote A Porno

Yes, you read that right… the name of this podcast is My Dad Wrote A Porno. Hosted by Jamie Morton and his friends James Cooper and Alice Levine – of BBC Radio 1 – Jamie reads to listeners the contents of the books his father has penned. Hilarious to the point of choking on food/drinks (yes I am talking from experience), this podcast is most definitely one to listen to through headphones or when you’re alone. The success of My Dad Wrote A Porno has led to live readings all over the globe.

Happy Place

Everyone has a ‘happy place’. Said happy place is different and special to every individual for a plethora of reasons. It could be that you have a particular memory you’re fond of attached, it could be somewhere you feel happy and at ease or it could even be somewhere you take yourself mentally when you’re wanting a moment of calm, and that’s what Fearne Cotton discusses over on her podcast – ‘Happy Place’. With interviews from the likes of Paloma Faith, Stephen Fry, Alexandra Shulman and Melanie C, Fearne learns about their lives, what makes them tick and what happiness is to them. An honest and heartwarming podcast that reminds us we’re all human.

Looking to learn from and about the likes of Olivia Colman, Whoopi Goldberg, Catherine Tate and Tina Fey? Then you’re in luck! David Tennant presents his podcast David Tennant Does A Podcast With… entertaining listeners and bringing a smile to faces with his warmth and all around great guy charm. There hasn’t been a new episode since May last year, so hopefully we’ll get some more at some point soon.

London Actually

Writer, presenter, stand-up comic and all around queen, London Hughes’s podcast, London Actually, both resonates, entertains, shocks and helps her listeners. Telling tales of her romantic escapades, being the recipient of advice from her mother – who, sidenote, you will just want to hug and be best friends with – and frankly discussing the details of her guests’ romantic histories, before seeking their advice, London has you laughing from the get go. With frequent mentions of her vagina and “catching dick”, London even offers listeners the chance to find love with a feature that connects two individuals on a ten minute phone call before they decide if they would like to meet in person.

Shagged, Married, Annoyed

Shagged, Married, Annoyed is the audio brainchild of stand-up comedian, Chris Ramsey, and his wife Rosie. Covering topics, ranging from everyday life to the woes of being married, and everything in between, Chris and Rosie blend their friendliness with sharp-wit in Shagged, Married, Annoyed and it makes for very easy and entertaining listening. During each episode the couple also field questions from listeners and a secret celebrity.

Sorry, Not Sorry

You may know of Gemma Cairney from her days at BBC Radio 1. For those whom don’t, Gemma is a bubbly, friendly and warm individual whom even just listening to her makes you want to be her best friend. Interviewing guests that include former Dragon’s Den Dragon, Sarah Willingham, editor of YOU Magazine and former editor of Glamour, Jo Elvin and Olympian Nicola Adams, Gemma discusses finding pleasures in everyday life, what her guests take pleasure in and how we should all do this for ourselves.

Private Parts

One of the 2019 nominees for a British Podcast Award, Private Parts has been cementing itself in the popular British podcasts right from the get go. Hosted by Made in Chelsea’s Jamie Laing and Francis Boulle the podcast is designed to delve into the diary and everyday life of Jamie but soon became both Jamie and Francis taking it in turns to read their diaries to listeners, filling them in on the bits that they didn’t perhaps see on MiC. Since starting the podcast back in 2017, Jamie and Francis have shared many an intimate tale, lots of literal shit talk, hosted numerous public figures as guests and offered “qualified” advice to their listeners queries. Private Parts is highly entertaining and will offer a lighthearted half hour of relief if you’re in need of a smile.
